Credits and pricing
No subscription. Writing and publishing are free; credits pay for pictures, video, reading feeds and X's own fee.
You get 50 credits on signup, no card. After that you buy packs when you need them; credits never expire. Everything that costs credits is quoted before you agree, and you are charged for what was actually made, not the estimate.

Why X costs credits
X charges us for every post made through its API: $0.015 for a plain post and $0.20 when the post contains a link. We pass that on at the same rate as everything else, so it is 1 credit or 8. The other four networks charge nothing for publishing, so neither do we.
Holds and refunds
Before a paid job runs, its quoted price is held from your balance. When it finishes you are charged what the provider actually billed, and the rest is released. If it fails, the whole hold is released. Nothing that costs credits runs if your balance cannot cover the quote; the agent tells you what is missing instead.
Buying
Press the credits pill in the top bar of the app. Checkout is by card through Stripe; the credits are on your balance as soon as the payment clears.
